Who Can Stay

Who can stay

Everyone is welcome at Holy Rood, whatever your religion or philosophy, whatever your sexuality or gender identity, ethnicity, age or nationality. You’re welcome here whether you are feeling at one with your life or in a real muddle. Please get in touch, a conversation can help you decide whether or not this is the right place at the right time.

For many years I have walked a spiritual path –
a lonely place when you are not part of a religion.
Then I found Holy Rood House which accepted me
and helped me to explore more deeply my own Truth –
that in the end only LOVE matters.

Quotes from our guests

You do not have to be religious to come here, and if you have been hurt by religion you will be well supported here.  We have a very gentle approach to our faith and value people whatever their own beliefs.  We find prayer and meditation help to sustain us as a community and provide a rhythm to each day and our guests are welcome to choose whether they join in or not.  If you have never been on retreat before, you will find this an easy way to start.  If you are very familiar with retreats you will find space here to engage at whatever level you need.

Today by opening your home, your hearts and allowing this brief respite,
you saved a soul – and a family.

The Lounge

This is a good place to find space to breathe and company for the journey.  We are a retreat house, but we are much more than that.  For some people, Holy Rood is a place to be looked after and sleep.

…a house of warmth, friendship, support and cosseting. It is like coming home.
Quotes from our guests

You are welcome to stay here on your own but you might want to come with a friend or partner.  If you need emotional or physical support during your stay, we have one fully accessible suite which two people can share together.  Read more.

Individuals may book themselves in for a midweek stay, or join us for one of the quiet days or weekend retreats publicised in our Programme of Events.

Occasionally people are too unwell to come and stay.  We will talk this through with you when you get in touch and encourage you to visit us as soon as you have the support you need in place.  If you would like us to talk to your GP or Counsellor, we need your permission, but this can help us ensure that this is a safe enough space for you and that this is the right time for you to come here.
