Wellbeing: a place to breathe

Holy Rood House 1

A home of real nourishment at every level.
Quotes from our guests

What it means to be well will look different for each of us.  Here at Holy Rood we help people to learn to breathe more deeply, take stock of what they are experiencing and make good decisions about how to be as well as they can be.  Whether people feel well or in a mess, when they stay at Holy Rood they talk about feeling refreshed and empowered for whatever they are facing.

On our Wellbeing days and Quiet garden days you can take some time for yourself, to rest and recuperate.  Inspiring themes can help us to find our own creativity and can sometimes enable us to gain a different perspective.  Come and see!

Holy Rood House 2

A residential week tends to run from Monday teatime until Friday breakfast.  This offers guests an opportunity to properly unwind. Our pattern of prayer and meditation with plenty of space to explore the grounds or the local area help to give some shape to your day, but some people just need to sleep.

Regular mealtimes with home-cooked food help guests to feel looked after, something all of us need from time to time!

You are free to join in with as much or little of the daily routine as feels right for you.

Quotes from our guests

Sometimes people come here because they are living with life-changing tiredness or fatigue.  If you feel too tired to come in person we are able to offer online support.  Please call or email us and we can discuss the options.

Holy Rood House 3

A house full of the rustlings of a new energy and renewal.
Quotes from our guests

During a Quiet Day or a residential stay at Holy Rood there are people who can offer a listening ear.  Each day there is a chaplain on duty, someone who can listen to you as you make sense of what’s happening in your life.

If you want to make an appointment with a Counsellor or Therapist this is something we would ask you to arrange in advance, to avoid disappointment.

There are people here who can help you work creatively, using paints or clay or a variety of art materials to explore your feelings in different ways.  You can use the creative arts room throughout your stay.

We have a beautiful garden, with many different animals and birds, and we are set in picturesque surroundings, all of which can help you relax and regain your inner strength.
