Counselling and Therapy

Thanks for believing in me, when I could not believe in myself.
Quotes from our guests

Our confidential counselling service is accessible to local people, and some who come from further afield.  Our counsellors are either fully trained or completing their training and all are accountable to the BACP guidelines.

In addition, we have a trained Psychosynthesis therapist and an Art Psychotherapist.

To meet with a Counsellor or therapist, we ask you to complete a form and have a conversation with Elaine Hill, our Clinical Manager.  We want this to be as easy for you as possible so please get in touch if you would like to discuss your needs.

Psychotherapy

urs-mattan Our Counselling team use different therapeutic approaches, all of which are recognised by Accreditation organisations like BACP or UKCP. Our Senior Psychotherapist Urs Mattmann has Psychosynthesis as core orientation and has completed specialist training including EMDR that enables  him to work with Trauma, PTSD and other complex issues. You can visit Urs' website here.

Art Psychotherapy

Art psychotherapy is a form of therapy that encourages the use of art materials within the sessions, which may be used as a relaxation technique whilst exploring thoughts and emotions and can be a way of fostering self-awareness and growth.  Artmaking used in this way, creates an external representation of what is going on inside, which allows for something tangible to be explored with the art psychotherapist.

Art is a universal language, one that acknowledges that feelings are mutable; art teaches us to express them and within this is a taking back control, for with every mark, every brushstroke is a "choice".

You do not need any artistic skills to have art psychotherapy, it’s much more about the experimental process of creating rather than the outcome.

This is available for both adults and children, and all art materials are provided along with a safe space and the gentle guidance of an art psychotherapist.
